| Exaust Question... Well its that time, Im ready to do the exaust. Im a little torn, I know of a few whom have just done a straight pipe 2.5 cat back and other who have purchased exausts..I have the oppertunity to get a B&B for a really good price. Im looking for the most gain. I dont care about looks, sound style. I want performance. Any one out there with expierence ? Let me know.

| I believe supersprint has some really good gains. |

| hells yeah, get the Supersprint DTM style exhaust. Just got one on my M Roadster, it's phat and has a nice throatier tone, good performance gain as well. Mine's still in the break-in process :-) |

| why would I want an exaust for looks if its under the car ? (I dont get it) who cares its an exaust. You think Nascar or NHRA pro cars are concerned with looks and sound? " Gee DALE, that exaust on yer car sure looks purdy, sounds good too" "Hell you dont need that, its only 5-7 hp and scares all the fans" would it be something like that ? I think Ive got the answer I need. Imstill gonna go the straight pipe route like I originally planned.

| What Arman is saying is that BMW exhaust systems are very well designed. The primary constriction in the exhaust system comes from the catalytic converters, so no CAT-BACK exhaust system is going to yield any significant power gain. If you put in headers or take out the cats, you'll see larger power gains. So, most BMW tuners replace the exhaust system to get a louder, throatier (or any other auditory quality) sound and a better looking muffler than the dull OEM look. Personally, I think my Active Autowerke muffler looks like art, with it's polygonal shape and all.

| well I can see that side of it as well. I know BMWs have really efficent mufflers ect. Thought of a new set of cats as well, maybe like a racing section or something, with hollowed out cats. Im just looking agian for the gains.

| i agree with the appearance issue, but the sound is important. I'm sure NASCAR drivers aren't concerned with the sound of their exhaust, but they don't drive their cars on the highway either.. once you have to listen to it ALL the time, it can get rather annoying if you don't like it. i was in the same boat trying to pick a new exhaust for my car a few months ago. i heard several that were absolutely badass and loud, but then realized there are times when i don't want my car to sound like that. i ended up going with active autowerke. it's a little louder and more "open" sounding than stock, but i wish it was a tad louder. of course, it's not broken in yet either. nate |

| have you considered the active autowerke track pipe you would be looking at about 26rwph and then you may want to get their exhaust system which is pretty good from what i hear
