318ti and z3 cats

my cat is bad on my 33k mi. 97 ti already! the honeycomb inside is loose and rattles incescently at 3000rpm. i actually found a replacement unit from summit for $75 that will fit a 1.9L 4cyl. Z3, and i know the Z3 and ti are brothers seperated at birth. does anybody know if the catalytic converter would be the same or even close enough to modify. it's 16.5" long, 7.5" wide, and 4" deep (damn close to mine) and has, according to the rep, 2 port for o2 sensors. the replacement unit(the 4ft long pipe w/ cat from header to flange) from BMP is $375 and i just wanna save for a cup kit.

i think is should be the same... i don't see why would they make it different

BTW, your car's cat is still covered under warrranty, if you want to stay BMW. I think the new ones are redesigned to last longer.

the car has a reconstructed title- i bought it for $3600 wrecked with 13k mi. on it. thanks, to the both of you.
