Saw a Green Z1 today!

What is the scoop on the Z1?? I saw a green one today at my work. It is still parked outside, but the other cars around it restrict any good pics I may be able to snap of it. I will try to get some, but will not be able to upload them until after work.

Anyone got any info and know availability of these??

Drivetrain same as in E30 325i, don´t know about States but in Europe relatively easy to find. Prices around 17-30k euros here. The doors still do the trick even after 15 years...

The motor and front suspension are from an E30 325i. The rear is where it was innovative for its time: this is the first car to use BMWs Z-axle rear suspension which later showed up on E36 and E46s. It does not have trailing arms like E30s do. They were only officially sold in Europe. The doors are sweet. It was also the first BMW to get HIDs from the factory.

Pretty sweet looking car although I would prefer an M Coupe.

i'd take a dozen cars before a z1 from a performance standpoint. The allure of this car is its unique styling and limited numbers...

"The doors of the Z1 are unique. The doors drop down into the car's sills (or rockers), and as they drop the windows lower. The "open air" cockpit was considered unsafe in the USA, and the Z1 was not allowed to be imported for many years. Today, the Z1 can be imported into the USA."
