DSC problems on Z3

the DSC failed after a few clunking noises in the engine and a brief steering lockup, the car had done this like 4 times and i finally took it to bmw to get it fixed. is this a common problem with just my car or all bmw's from my year (2000)? seeing that it took the dealership a few times to diagnose this correctly i'm just waiting for it to happen again.
