Toy comparison: M Coupe v Ducati 748R v Impala SS

The Cruiser
Well the Impala is great for cruising, especially with a few mates. Or is that crew? You can seat 6 people in it with ease and it's pillarless with very long doors, so the hanging out of the window action is quite first rate. Even with a Chev 327 it isn't what I'd call a fast car and the handling is nothing short of frightening!

The Adrenaline
The Ducati is just scary. I've never taken off with full throttle, it's just too much acceleration for me to handle. Mind you I'm not exactly the world's best rider. Beginner is flattery when applied to me. I have hoever had the bitch up to 230kph on Eastern Creek raceway down the front straight. Holy Jesus, the sensation when you take turn 1 at 165kph and get the idea in your head that you might not have enough room ...

Mind you this is a toy that can be hard on the ego. I've been passed on the outside by a chick with long red hair at turn 9 at EC and I've had a guy on a 500cc dirt bike nearly lap me! Not to mention the 250cc bikes that I flog down the straight only to have them eat me up by turn 2.

The Ego Fulfillment
The M Coupe is exactly what it is. A bottomless pit of money and probably the closest expression of who I am and what I like. For what are our chosen cars but an extension of ourselves? I love my car and it has everything I want and nothing I don't.

Mine will echo me when it has 18' Dished simmons, Alfa Brembos (Porker GT3) up front, adjustable DeDion Tube rear with outboard brakes, with carbon fibre dash, and door trims, NO rear seat, cage, harnesses, Twin GT25 Turbod 24v V6 bored and stroked to 3.5 revving to 8500rpm under boost, with adjustable front suspension, and big guards front and rear.

Damn I need some cash.

Damn thats quite a collection kenny.

I love Impalas - my friend had a 2 speed bel air that fit 6 easily but wasnt pillarless. Solid enough to stand on the boot and bounce. Great fun.

Have you got any pics of the Impala??

Not sure why, but I could really go for a candy apple green impala wit dem dana danes and switches.

Kenny: Does your Impala have heaps of body roll? Must be a huge difference compared to your M-Coupe with the adjustable suspension!

Julian: Thanks for helping me out the other night! I learnt that it was 1983 was when Alfa introduced the variable valve timing in their Gold Cloverleaf edition Alsetta. It made 130bhp with the 2.0L engine which isn't too bad for something made 20 years ago!

OzzieBob: It's a 1965 Impala SS in Ermine White with a light blue interior, TH350 three speed and 327 with dual exhausts.

The 1965 is a much nicer looking car than the '64 IMO. The '64 is all square lines, the '65 has the coke bottle thing going!

ABX-18Z: Thanks, it is a fun car to cruise in. Unfortunately I no longer have enough garage space so I'll be advertising it in Unique Cars, et al soon to unload it.

This afternoon I had to juggle the Beemer, Ducati and Chevy in my garage. Not impressed 20 minutes later.
