Yesterday I had the opportunity to accompany a group of Z3's on their annual "mountain twisties" run.
This run consists of a blast throughout the Cascades with a stop at the majestic peak of Mt. St. Helens!

Let me tell you that standing up there with the open faced valley of Mt. St. Helens made me feel truly small!
Majestic Mt. St. Helens
Jet Black M5 in Van a.k.a. VanCooper (Guillaume) was nice enough to drive down from Vancouver BC to accompany me and Mike (with the E55) on this run. I think he had fun.
I had gone with these folks on drives before but nothing could have prepared me for the magnitude of this run! They warned me time and time again that there would be enough twisties to make my arms tired!
They were right. By the time we finally made it to the top, I was sick and tired of driving!

I never thought that'd happen to me.
Guillaume is one gifted driver! He was blowing past everybody through the twisties, constantly passing slower folks throughout the hairpins so hairy that they'd make the hair on the back of your neck stand on end!

I simply could NOT keep up with him no matter how hard I tried. I could hear him even from afar with that straight pipe of his though.

I knew that he couldn't have been very far.
The run was quite long, about 250 miles in all. About halfway through the run, my front end was already showing battle scars inflicted by kamikaze bugs. hiha
There were a number of cool cars ranging from Z3's in a multitude of colors, superhuman M coupes and an absolutely pristine 2002. mmmmmm
One very fast M coupe! :cool2:
Beautiful 2002
This Montreal blue Z3 was even more stunning in person!
Even the motorcylists were out in force.
It truly was a picture perfect day.
The usual number of car shots.
I hated having to leave.
But it was getting late in the day. On the way back down I planned on taking it easy since I was tired from the run up. Boy was I ever wrong, I ended up going even faster!
A buddy of mine brought his E55 which did surprisingly well through the twisties. There was however one very scary moment on the way down when he briefly lost control on a long sweeping curve. The back end wiggled ever so slightly but he managed to regain control long enough to keep right on going. That was one crazy motha! :confused3
One day, I'll have to bring the M5'ers and Z8'ers back on this route. They will LOVE it, lovelove
