Z3 shifter install, we're money!

I just installed my Z3 shifter and I have to say, that's the best $120 I've spent yet. Peice of cake to install also. I replaced the bow, which was my faulty peice, (broke in two places) and didn't even have to remove the exhaust or the driveshaft. No problems at all. My shifter feels absolutely bad ass! The throw is so much shorter, it is smooth, damn I'm excited. I highly recomend this to everyone. Forget UUC and everyone else, this is where it's at. Let me know if anyone needs any help. The most time consuming part was putting the car on jacks. Oh and my exhaust is the shit as well. Can't wait for my cams.

Dude, what's the deal with those rims? Those look phat! When did you do that? Where the hell have I been? You have no idea how happy I am about this shifter. My car never shifted well since I bought it and now, it's like driving a new car all over again.

The shifer was $75, and all the other parts made up the rest. I redid everything.

Spectre - can you list everything that you bought? I was thinking of doing the UUC but now I want to do this. Plus its wicked cheaper. Will it work for a 91 318is? Thanks!

Which z3 shifter did you install? the 1.9 lever?

Did you have to bend the gear selector so it won't rub on the driveshaft in certain gear(s)?

Yes, a definition of "I redid everything" would be much appricitaed. Also, would the Z3 shifter be a good use of a RE WSR that everyone is talking about?

I don't know what that is. Here's a breakdown of the parts.

1 25-11-1-220-379 Spec. circlip (infamous bitch clip)
2 25-11-1-220-439 Spec. shim
1 25-11-1-220-832 6-Bush Bearing
1 25-11-1-469-397 Trans. Shifter bushing
1 25-11-1-434-148 Shift lever (Z3 1.9)
1 25-11-2-225-369 7-M3 bar (bow)

This isn't everything for the complete linkage and shifter mechanism. You guys need to see what you need, and get what you want. You can get the UUC bushing set if you want, the trans. shifter bushing is $18, kinda expensive. These are the main working parts, however, and if you change all of this out, you'll be straight. The only part out of these that isn't E30 M3 is the shift lever. Any more questions, let me know. And no, I didn't need to bend anything at all, and I have perfect clearence. I left out a new boot as well, since I have'nt picked that up yet.

Spectre,
Are all the peices from the Z3? What year Z3? Do you have the part #'s? Thanks man.

Rob89M3: Nice wheels but I like your Hartge's better (classic look).

Did you even read the thread? Read closely my friend. Those are all the part #'s. All peices are from E30 M3 except the shifter. Look a little closer and you will see the shifter is from a 1.9. I don't know what year the car is, it doesn't make a difference. As far as I know, they only had the 1.9 in the first Z3's. But I'm no bimmer expert. That would be Rob S. Yo B. Bull, I don't see why this wouldn't work for your car. As long as the aluminum shift plate in your car will accept the bearing, you should be straight.
