Z3 versus M Roadster - "Bitchmobile"

Ok my question is simple enough, why is the Z3 considered a "bitch car" and the M Roadster isn't? It can't be the look because they look pretty similar. It can't be the small engine because they've got bigger engines than a 318. Exactly what makes it a "bitchmobile?"

Because some people are very stupid and have never driven these cars, judging on face value. Roadsters tend to be very feminine and aimed at women- take Mazdas MX5 (Miata) for example. These are not 'proper' sports cars, but look good and so arent considered manly....

...but if you drive one, they are actually great fun. Our SLK for example is a great drive (especially as its manual) but would be considered a 'bitch' car. By the logic people use, I would classify an Audi TT as a bitch car- Golf chassis, unsporting handling...no mans car.

That's what I think. One of the first cars I ever drove was a Z3 and I'm not ashamed to admit that I was impressed. I flew down a road and thought I was doing about 80. I WAS ACTUALLY DOING 130 That scared the piss outa me since I'd never gone that fast so I backed it down. But I was impressed, even hitting triple digits the thing still handled great and all I heard was the roar of the wind.

I dunno, I guess the way I think, if it's labeled as a "bitch car" then that just means girls will think it's cuter and one could work that to his advantage.

Exactly- I would guarantee more women turn their heads in the SLK than the 530 (which is no bitch car). You get an M5 to turn guys heads...

Which would make the M3 convertible a manly bitchcar I suppose. I know one thing, at Eurasia I saw both guys and girls checking out Greg Bells Boston Green M3. Now that car was hot I used to hang out with a lot of girls who had convertibles (mostly cabrios) and some that dated guys just because they had convertibles...or jeeps It's like the second you say you have ANYTHING with an open top (except Cabrio's because even girls will admit that's a "bitchcar") you immediately become a bit more important.

It's just how things is. A Slk230K will always be more "feminine" than a Slk32 Amg. A Z3 roadster will always be more feminine than a M roadster. There is a perfectly good explanation to this. A car is designated as a "man's car" if it's powerful, fast, stylish, and a killer on the twisties. To the general public those characteristics give the masculine side to a car. A Z3 doesn't handle as well as the M roadster and not even as fast. It's because of this that they designate the Z3 version the "Bitch" model. I know this is not fair to the females. I know there are a lot of good femaine drivers out there but yet, the public generalize the worser handling car as the "Bitch" model. A Z3 is a great snappy car, it's no M roadster, but it holds its own. Many shallow car buyers look past the real car underneath all that crap that people makes them believe. Like Mikedev said, you "don't judge a book by it's cover." Cuz if you do, you will miss out a lot in life and cars of course.

Celica is the ultimate, everygirl I know that wants to be cute, sporty, or "fun" has one... Ny other choice for bitch car would be the lexus sc430, it only comes automatic, for those who like to pretand they can drive fast and in control but are hazard to everyone... That car is almost worse then an automatic porsche.
But to get back to the thread a beemer is a beemer, if you like it, just drive and drive it hard!

I would never buy an M roadster unless I planned on spending serious dollars to redo the rear suspension. That car represents tomorrow's engine technology (///M) and yesterday's chassis technology (e30). Truth be told... the roadster can not handle the ///M drivetrain and will likely cause many inexperienced (and I don't mean <25yrs) drivers a lot of distress.

Maybe it's the fact that you can't drive the damn thing fast that makes it a 'bitch car' in some people's eyes.

Whaaaa? Jetta = damn nice car, mini BMW in my eyes
Z3 = Over 40s middle class womans car, just like the SLK
M Coupe = Eccentric people who dont care that their car is ugly because its FAST

BUT these are all stereotypes that make no sense. I just took the SLK for a blat and its SERIOUSLY good fun, with I nice gearchange, smooth power delivery, good noise...and it turns heads.

Which Celica? The new one, the last one, all of them? I've always liked the look of the one between 95 and 99 (I think those were the years). Rather I've always liked the interior, you can't do much to the exterior that's impressive, the performance sucked, and the car was not only FWD but an unresponsive FWD.

I dunno man I got one up there and I've heard of people getting them past that. I think instead of trying to get an M3 later on I'm just gonna get myself a M Roadster (I'm dreaming of being able to afford an M car btw). I love the interior it's pretty pimptacular, the engine is badass, and if you work it right the car definitely will do the trick.

IMO the Z3 Roadster is alright but I'd rather have an M, the Z3 Coupe is the same way. The M Roadster and M Coupe are definitely not ghey.
