I have had a BMW master mechanic tell me that this behavior is common to the stock M3 clutch, and that an upgraded clutch would indeed fix the problem. He also talked something about a restrictor, right near the slave cylindar on the clutch line, that is the cause of this behavior and whose removal does wonders for overall grab, but I have not yet had time to do any homework on it.

ah i see, thats good to know, thanks ... I think I'll upgrade for sure then. and see if you can find out more about that restrictor for me! if it isnt that much of a problem to talk to that master mechanic guy or whatever. anyways we're going OT so maybe PM me if you have any info
