MZ3 shifter in my e30

so i just got a MZ3 shifter for my e30 since its the shortest shifter bmw ever produced. (i think) i know i have to bend my shift linkage for it to fit because the throw is so short it will hit the guibo. but i seen the same shifter but it was bent...mine is not. do they come bent and non bent? or do some people bend the shifter as well?

what? mz3 shifter stalk is straight, e30 stalk is bent.
