When asked why there are no manuals a Mercedes officials say it wouldn't be effective, because the cost of having a manual version is huge because it's considered a whole different car and most undergo all these other costly certifications, tests, etc. The demand is not enough to make it worth while.

but when i went to Cutter about 2~3 weeks ago..they had these posters saying 6 gears or somthing....

well i know for a fact that the 240 in the begining had the manual 5 speed(could a been 6 dont know) i test drove it. i was 16 hjaha they thought i was buying the car i was with my mom. i raoed that lil trick car then i drove the c320 tiptronic(these had no manual)
then i went to keys to buy my moms e class. i sat in the slk's both the 230 kompressor and the 320 had the maunal one was 5 the other was a 6 speed but theamg c class and slk fa sho dont have a manual offered and i think the c class doesnt anymore either. also i just rememmbered the 230 coupe has a 5 speed tiptronic like my moms. so there goes that theort. ans the new slk's are coming out soon with a 6 spee tiptronic f1 stlye.(that what i hear). so no more manual!

None of the AMG models have manuals, but the lower models do, a favorite line of the salesman is that they don't build them with manuals because the engines are too powerful for a manual tranny to handle.

Mercedese said that their cars have too much torque for manual gearboxes... Or something to that effect. I read this somewhere...

4.2 secs HAHAHAH Yeah right... That would be as fast as a 993 911 Turbo. I don't think so. If they say 4.2 in an automatic, that means you can do it almost everytime you lauch. I strongly doubt that.
It take 350 hp for those cars to go under 5 seconds to 60.
They have huge power, but something is lacking. Hell the 315 Hp M Coupe will mess that thing up I'm sure!

Mercedes never said their cars can't handle the power, salesman sometimes do. Their spokesman said the demand wouldn't make it cost effective.
