| clutch help needed ASAP i have a 99 z3 coupe, and somethings wrong...the clutch does not engage at all. When pressing the pedal all the way to the floor you can not engage any gears, the gears feel stuck. the clutch moves freely when the engine is off though, so i put it in second and drove home like that. however, when i press teh clutch down at about 3000rpms, nothing happens, the RPMs remain the same. i cant get it into any gear at all. the only way to drive is by turning the car off, putting it into a gear, and turning the car on and driving off in 2nd gear. when lookin at the clutch pedal it looked like something was missing, because there was an empty space for a bolt. PLEASE HELP!!! |

| Couple of questions. First how many miles are on the car. Second, not to insult your intelligence but have you checked the reservoir level for the clutch\brake. If it has gotten low it may have air in it. If the level is fine I would have to say that it's time for a new clutch. Mine went out on my car at 70k and I experienced exactly the same symptoms as you're describing. It would not go into gear when running and the only way to get it in gear was to turn the motor off and get it into the right gear with a little work. If you're mechanically inclined you can do it yourself and save some major $$. I had only had my car for a week when it went out and the dealer (thankfully) covered the entire cost......$1500.00+!! You can get a sachs clutch kit for around 225.00 and just stick it in yourself. If you have access to a lift and the right tools you can probably have it done it in about 7 hrs give or take. The only thing special you need is a #10, #12 and #14 torx socket for the tranny, oh and a little patience . Good luck!
