| If you get one of the M Coups with the 314 bhp engine it will rape a e36 M3. I forget what year they started making them, it was either 00+ or 01+. The other years have the exact same engine as US E36 M3s.

| they switched to the s54 in 2001 the s54 puts down 315hp at the crank, and ive heard the s54 m coupe will keep up with an E46 M becasue the coupe is lighter. Its basically the same engine as the E46 M3 anyway, with a smaller airbox the m coupe is also considered one of BMW's most rigid bodies as there is very little flex i was considering the same question a while back, trying to decide whther to get an M coupe or an e36 M3. I came to the conlusion that i needed at least a little extra space, and the M coupe didint really offer it. I was also only interested in an s54 2001 + model and theyre pretty damn pricey.

| I've read that the M Coupe handles better, but of course there is probably not as much space. But the Coupe is a hatchback which probably will help with the space problem. Personally I love the M Coupe and would take one over an e36 M3 anyday.

| I spent a good deal of time in a Mcoupe this weekend and I fell in love. I would take one over a m3 anyday. Those things are little rockets, even with the s52 engine it was amazing...i can only imagine the s54.

| Yes indeed, Both are very nice machines. If I were you, I would try to find an M Coupe. They made them 99-01. Then BMW discontinued them due to low sale figures. But none the less they are magnificent machines. You get the legendary BMW handling/performance, Weight distribution is 51-49, 315HP, nice gas mileage, and unique styling...excellent choice.

| the M coupe would be my daily driver. This will give me time to build my 5 cylinder turbo project engine correctly and still have a nice, fun car to drive in the mean time. Then when the engines done, i'll find a nice B5 chassis (a4/s4), and make a full race prep old school meets the new for weekend event racing. This is over the course of the next few years...

A friend of mine has the last year made blk on blk w/ less than 2000 miles on the OD. When, "when" it goes outside the garage he gets maybe 200 miles to a tankfull....that thing sucks gas like theres no tomorrow. But then again, what one person considers to be nice gas mileage could be horrid to another. My 98 328is was getting ~30-32 MPG on the highway...If that coupe gets more than 25 off a cliff with a tail wind it would be a amazing. Would I like one,,,,Heck ya'. compared to my F150 4x4 getting 9 MPG, it would be an improvement. -kutch |

| I don't really care about gas mileage all that much. i just want something I'm not gonna want to get rid of after a year or so. Plus I have a bike for good gas mileage.
