M Roadster Guage Cluster ??

Just bought a 1998 M roadster, it doesnt have the voltage meter gauge that i have seen in other M's located underneath the stereo. Is this a dealer deletion? or option?

When my dad bought his 98 M it didn't have a volt meter either, But we recieved one in the mail and installed it ourselves.
