///M Coupe Owners Please Respond

Wow, unless I'm missing the M Coup section here, these cars must be more rare than I expected. I need some honest opionions. I'm looking at purchasing a 2000 M Coupe as my daily driver. I've read all the standard M Coupe reviews, now I need real world experience.

1) Is this car expensive to maintain (outside the normal)
2) Creature comforts
3) Every day driving comfort (1-10?)
4) I'm 6.1" and weight about 210, fairly broad shouldered, will I have a problem with comfort? I'd expect it to feel similar to my 93 vette, as far as being packed in...maybe??

Thanks in advance for helping me out with my decision.

Good luck getting a response in here.
1. Its built with a lot of parts from other, more common, bmws, so its not really that much more or less expensive.
2. Same as a z3 or so. But much better looking interior, and awesome 2 tone interior combos.
3. Cant comment on this one
4. You might want to test drive one to determine this. I think you *might* be pushing it with your weight, but its been a while since i had last researched these. I already have my mind set on one.

Yes, they are very rare, I hardly ever see any on the road around here, I see lots more Ferraris. I don't use mine as a DD, so I can't answer some of your questions, but I haven't had to replace anything unusual other than the front strut mounts. It's been a great car so far, & I've pushed it pretty hard on a few occasions. It might be a little tight for someone your size, best thing to do is take a test drive, or at least sit. I had an 88 Vette, & I think the Vette had a little more room.

1) Not expensive to maintain, same as any other M, maybe less.
2) Cooler than Roadster
3) 10, I drive this car from Grand Prairie to Richardson 3 or 4 days out of the week for work and I love it.
4) I'm 5' 7" about 135lbs so any car is fine for me but I do have a couple of friends over 6' and they fit ok in the car. You'll probably be as comfortable as you would be in a vette.

Let me know if you want to check the car in person before you get yours. Also check the Z section on bimmerforums.com, there are quite a few more Z owners there.

If the lack of responses correlates to it's commonness than I'm in. Sightings here in Dallas of an ///M Coupe are rare, as long as it's due to some mechanical with the car...I'm even more excited about test driving one. "I think the vette had a little more room" That is the only potential problem I see. Thanks for the feed back all.

Quest, since I live in Frisco and work downtown Dallas, I may just take you up on that little offer

Send me an email if you want to meet up sometime, I rarely check this board. The M Coupes are very rare but there are plenty of owners on other boards, there's just very few here for some reason.

Hey Quest 330IS, where do u get the custom projector headlights? I want to get a set cuz i have HID on my M Coupe, but i don't think the HID is as nice as what i seen on the projector headlamps. I bought the factory BMW 5 series HID from the dealership.

If u can give me some info on that headlamp it would be great help thx!!!

Hey Hamann, nice Coupe.

About the lights, I did the installation myself. Used some e65 bi-xenons and HID, the lighting is really good. If I had a choice though, I would have gone with a smaller projector because these barely fit in the car because the fender comes so close to the front. I did a writeup on bimmerforums...I'll find it for you.

EDIT: Here's the thread

Yeah that look really nice. I was just surfing some of the forums and i notice now that they have actually projector lights for sale along with angle eye. how do u think that looks?

But the price for the projector sound kinda steep. I read ur post already, did u only made one side with projector? How about the high beam??

Btw, sorry for so many questions, but do u use icq or msn?

1. I haven't spent anything extra on my Coupe (excluding mods). So far it's been flawless.
2. I really love the interior, it gets just as many complimants as the car. (And the heated seats have come in handy this winter.)
3. I'll give it an 8 as a daily driver. It's a two seater sports car and the rear tire is a foot from your ass. You feel the bumps but you don't notice them over time. It is seriously the funnest car I have ever driven.
4. I'm 6'2" weighing in at a solid 200 lbs and I fit and has some room to spare. The best thing to do is go for a test drive in one.

Just get it, you won't be disappointed.

Id like someone to compare this to an Evo for tearing up back roads as we know these are both capable cars.
