Alpina Z8 pics! 56k warn

My girlfriend told me that she saw an alpina z8 at performance when her mom bought her tahoe, so I decided to stop by and take some pics with her newcamera. Its a damn good camera, a lot better than I thought it would be, I think the pics turned out great. Enjoy.

What does the alpina mean? Is it a tuner? An inhouse tuner? Or just a version of the z8?

Alpina makes a different kind of Z8, it has less power, but a whole hell of a lot more torque..here are the figures..

Horsepower 375 @ 5800 RPM 394 @ 6600 RPM -Z8
Torque (lb-ft) 383 @ 3800 RPM 368 @ 3800 RPM -Alpina

they make special versions of BMW models...they buy the chasis from BMW but assemble the rest themselves..

They are custom ProParts/TC Kline coilovers.

ALPINA was the first BMW tuner, like AC Schnitzer, Hamman, Hartge, MVR, etc. The alpina version of the z8 is not better than the standard BMW z8. Z8's have the same fantastic 5L V8-engine as the M5(e-39) which produces 400 bhp and 500 NM of torque. Instead the V8 Roadster uses the same engine as the Alpina B10 V8S 4.8L .

Alpina claims:

0-100 km/h in 5,3 seconds, 0-1000 metres in 24,3 seconds and a limited top speed of 260 km/h.

The Alpina Z8 has a 540/740 4.4L motor built to 4.8L with a billet crank, cams, pistons, etc. The tranny is the same auto out of auto 540's.

Basically a big accounting department special/ budget-job with less performance. Boo.
