Well, even though it doesn't matter, here are my two cents.

My dad and brother both have BMWs, and they really don't have many problems, but when they do god it's a lot of money.

I trust BMW and Lexus. Both of the companies are trustworthy and reliable. Toyota makes great cars and BMW makes more technologically advanced cars, but both are great nonetheless. Pick whichever one suites you the best, and I'm sure you'll pick the right one.

I found the Lexus seat way to short on the bottom cushion like it was made for women. The X5 is much more comfortable.

THE RX300 is garbage, seriously...its built on the highlander and its nothing special AT ALL....and plus its a FWD w/ rear assist..not a real AWD system it only uses the rear wheels when needed....so therefore stick with the X5...and plus most lexus' are a glorified toyota...so make that comparision...would u choose toyota over BMW status??
I dont think so..LoL

nope. the rx was built off the camry platform years before the highlander came out.
the fwd with rear assist is to save gas mileage, meaning its a good thing. Lexus, a glorified toyota? have you ever owned one? Lexus's are the best cars on the road. they're reliable and ricidulously comfy

the rx is not garbage. trust me on that one, i own one.

Upon further thought, i think the X5 is a stupid choice. Why choose the car for its name when its going to spend half its life in the repair shop? Thanks for everyone's help, its all up to my dad. Whatever, i'm happy, i got my rx

ok its built on a camry (thats so much better now )....a lexus is a glorified toyota, my mother has owned a few actually..the ES300 = the Toyota camry with leather and a V6....its the EXACT same car...the RX300 = the highlander with 4WD and leather...its the same shit...there is nothing different about them but the name and the looks...inside its the same exact car...so why would someone pay as much as they pay for an ES300 or an RX300 when they can get the same car for like $5000 less...who knows??...but anyways, I don't want to start a flame war and get your thread locked or recycled....good luck on your dads decision...remember, you asked a question and I gave my OPINION..if you didn't want an opinion you should not have asked the question...

i understand its your opinion. i was just stating mine.

the internet needs "tone of voice" indicators. there would be so many less misunderstandings.

thanks people. i guess we'll just wait on the test drive. later.

Hey Mr. Bond ,

Can you get your story straight. You said that you are planning to get an RX. Then you said you own one and you are asking opinion for your dad to buy one. And the you say that the X5 is a stupid choice. Dude, what high school do you go to??

My dad and i are two different people. I've been looking to buy one for awhile, two days ago, i picked MINE up.

My dad is trying to decide what to buy my mom, an x5 or an rx. a separate purchase all together.

i said the, "after thinking about it, the x5 may be a stupid choice" compared to the rx.

the RX in not crap but as motor trend said it is behind the SUV learing curve and if your parents are interested in safety the X5 was called the safest car ever made by the instatute for highway safety.

Why not just get an H2 with a sweet 4 miles to the gallon instead, that has the best safety .
