the pics aren't working
---> you run H&R coilovers.
Are you happy with them ?
How much were they ?

Thankyou, I appreciate the comment.
LOL ...yes, it must seem funny me posting here & no BM's in the garage.

Along the way I have owned 5 BMW's
E21 320i
E30 325e
E30 320 cab
E30 325i (supercharged)
E53 X5

I have only just sold the X5
threw a set of 20's on it
colour coded
an exhaust ----> CLICK HERE FOR WAV FILE OF EXHAUST
and was about to dump it on its guts - but a change of plans saw it sold.
- i even bought a DINAN strut brace for it when I was in the US

Q pic is showing for me...
here is linkage just in case...Link to conversion pics

The X5 looks phat...did u get good money for it ??
the wav file reminds me of my V8 7 series exhaust and CAI.

The C/O so far I'm happy with them obviously the convertibles aren't the best cars for C/O in terms of rattles but hey thats expected it handles awesome...at the moment i have it on the highest setting for legal reasons just legal depends 95-100mm(legal 100mm) with the C/O's still have another 30mm in them.. I paid $2600 RRP is $3000..

Nico
Q u a busy man ?? Next time I'm up in QLD I should give you a buzz...was there in Dec and will be there in a month or two time..I'm still shitty missing your tyre sale hehe

I had to register to make the link work ...how weird is that
I sold the X5 [twice] in 11 days.
It was the most expensive secondhand X5 in the paper, but I still lost money.
It was to be expected. I put 14 000km on it in 5 months.

Thanks for the run down on the H&R's, I appreciate it.

Busy = yes. But I can always find time for a cruise.
I will be on the GC
Take some tyres home with you. I have some cheap 18" slicks here

Q, in addition to having lots of money, you must also be in the car business to go through so many cars. If not, the car dealers up there must love you.

Nicot - is your dad really selling the S600 for $80k - if so I know a ready buyer.

I've always liked the previous SL shape (like what QT had) but reading reviews on epinions and the like, it seemed they suffered from a huge number of problems.....the SL600's are a bargain now and the SL280's seem to be really good value - a great looking car with ok performance...may be worth considering in a few years if I can find somewhere to put them all!!

Q: $80,000 in 2 years has got to hurt though....just be thankful it was not a Diablo or Bentley (bye bye quarter of a million dollars!!)

Nico: thats shocking!!! Although massive depreciation was the only way that I could even have considered a 7 series but worked out for the best in not getting one. Did you ever have trouble with the S-class aircon? A friend was looking at a mid 90's S class and did some research on the net...seems that the evaporator was a unit that was designed to be a one-off so they built the dash around it...but seems that it was not as reliable as they thought so its a gutted interior (and I mean gutted!! nothing left of the dash at all!) to get at it...I can dig up some photos that I saw but the repair cost was astronomical. Ditto for the vacum system for the self-close doors. Then again, buying a car for one sixth its original value does not mean that maintenance costs are also one-sixth!!

Overall, its why I would never buy new...save for something exotic but then, I don't think I'll be facing that for a while!

PS: Nico, very popular spot for photos! I have a few of the SVX in the same spot. Did the security come and give you the drivel about not for commercial purposes yadda yadda??

SVX

strangely enough our SL was very reliable.
the air cells died [as expected] right on 60 000km
-fixed for $700
and once the roof had a spac attack & snapped a cable
-fixed for $200 + lab.

yes $80 000 hurt.
I would have been better off with a Bentley. !
I have a friend that is a Bentley dealer

Sounds like you were more fortunate than other owners! The current SL is the one that seems to be plagued with problems from what I have been reading....another reason not to buy the first in a series (of anything really!)

How reliable has the 993TT been??

In-fricken-credible.

I thought porsches were "run all day on full throttle in neutral" bulletproof.

PS - nice x5 - Id get one just like it if I won lotto to go with the newly purchased murcielago, 600SL with turbo mods and ... my current 318.

If I won enough, I would probably also need either the new rolls, a mayback, or a bentley (which seems to have the best rep and cache lately).
