| There won't ever be an MX5. They made one but it had 700 hp and was way too fast to put into production and it would have been expensive as hell

| I remember in an article that I read about the X5 LM, which ran ridiculous times around Nurburgring and a 194mph top speed, that the reason there was no X5 with the M5 5.0L was because of the motor's cost. But, the man in charge of the M division and the X5 LM had an X5 with an M5 motor and 6 speed, his everyday driver. |

but the 4.6is IS the M version of the X5, but Mazda already owns the name MX5 so they didn't badge it as such |

| Well judging on how much the buy spent on the body kit he probably could have had it re-painted. It's probably a 4.4i though, I guess. Still, SaBiH, you saw it? Wild huh? http://www.bmwworld.com/models/x5_lemans.htm "Shown (privately) at the 2000 Geneva Auto Show, the X5 Le Mans experimental vehicle is an X5 with a twist; a powerful twist. The X5 Le Mans is powered by the V12 engine from the Le Mans winner. This means that the engine of the X5 Le Mans has a power plant with 700 bhp (514 kW) and torque of 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) at 5000 rpm. The X5 Le Mans accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. Top speed is 278 km/h (173 mph). The idea behind the X5 Le Mans experimental vehicle is to demonstrate the X5's real absolute limits in practice. As a side effect, the work of the BMW engineers is a compelling showpiece whose powerful looks reflect its impressive inner values." Not like that's what I saw, but still..

I think your getting confused the the E38's V12, that had 326 HP. |

| BMW said that the M badge is reserved only for cars, now the x5 is an SAV/SUV, so they don't want it to have the M badge...simple as that... but yeah...the 4.6 is the performance version of the X5. |
