X5 LMR Video!!

Well, here it is, a video about the X5 LMR featuring commentary from the great Hans Stuck. Unfortunately, it's all in German. If anyone can translate it for me, I'd appreciate it.

wow, that first porsche is 6:26 then the next best is more than a minute added on.. how the hell? it was set in 1983 too.. was it some kinda race car or something? how could that be set in 83 and almost 20 yrs later with the crazy cars that are around, we can't even get to within a minute of that?

that time was set by the famous Ruf Porsche 911 CTR yellow bird, fully street legal, production car. It made more than 500 HP and was extremly light.

As the time passed, the were more powerful cars, but they were heavier as well, plus the driving balance must've been perfect in that yellowbird: weight and power distribution was the key. <br> I recently read an article in Evo (UK) magazine, where they compared 15 or so high performance Porsche models starting with 1973 RS 2.7 all the way to 2001 GT2. Guess which model won their hearts? It was 1973 911RS !!! They said the pure fun factor could not be beaten with modern technology

That car finished 1,2,3 at Le Mans in 1982, its debut year.

2.6 liter F-6 (single turbo)...630 hp and only 820 kg. A fiercely superior vehicle for its time. I believe it is the most successful racing car of all time (or the Bugatti Type 35B is...I don't know).

You think that's something, I'm surprised they don't have a time for the Porsche 917-30; it has 1500 hp.

First Porsche is a Race Car

Porsche 956 Group C cars raced at LeMans and other circuits in the World Sportscar championship. The car had around 700hp and was very light. The 956 was the predecessor to the 962. The reason why the time is soo much fatster than the others is that it is the only true race car on the list.

Damn it, i guess it takes too long for me to type.

Hah, it took me forever to write my post. I was getting the model numbers right and my connection at work is slow. In the time it took my to write three sentences or so, there were two posts.

I just watched the video...that's how a proper vehicle should sound.

more pics of 200+ MPH Ruf CTR

962, 917 AND OTHER RACING MODELS WERE NOT MASS PRODUCED!
CTR was based on narrow body 911 that was sold at the nearest dealership at the time. That was the beauty of it...

I hope you're not referring to the top time.

Anyway, the 956 was a full on race car without restrictions too, a whole different class than street cars or even heavily modded ones.
