Expensive?

Hey guys,

I'm completely new here, but that's just one thing. A week ago I moved to LA (Valley) from Hungary, Europe. Before, I had a 60k miles stock E30 318i, but now I moved and I need a car, and I figured why not buy an E30 or E34 again? There seem to be some really good deals (for sure you never know though). Anyway, my question is: how much more expensive is it to maintain an older BMW than let's say a '95 civic or some newer American cars? I was just told that parts and everything is VERY expensive in the US for BMWs, and that for this reason I should avoid them, but, I'd rather like to hear some local opinions about it. :-) Also, if you know a nice E30 or E34 for sale in the area please feel free to send me a PM. ;-)
