| yes thats me hehe..... nah engine is OK just curios becasue its done so many K's and worried if it just dies on me, so just wanting to know how much it'll cost before anything happens just in case hehe |

| Hey Dave, I'm sitting on 215,000 K's at the moment and my car pulls as smooth as ever, I'm only a little bit curious to find out also, but I reco'd my Auto transmission for 3 Geez last year (That being a cheap price, as BMW southbank quoted me almost double that), so going along that line, I guess the e36 would be around 6-8 grand and the e39 should be around the same, maybe a little higher as the engine is newer... Also, slapping in an LS1 in the middle of next year, so not bothering reconditioning anything that I will be selling from the car... Let us know if you find a price edo

| im on the edge of buying a ve sv6.... heading to holden this weekend to take a look. im feeling depressed now... *cuts wrists* the beamer is just costing me too much to maintain these days |

| DON'T BUY A HOLDEN!!! WHY, WHY???? Anything else but a Ford or Holden... How much are you willing to spend, there are better options out there for almost any budget ! I'll help you decide, I bought and sold cars for 10 years in Europe, I know most european cars inside out...Also had a workshop.. And I was not into servicing cars, it was about performance and tuning I owned or did work on most brands like Audi, BMW, Renault, Peugeot, VW... There is always something better, more reliable than an Australian car for ANY price! Period.

| NOOOOOOOOO!!!! DAVO, it's not worth it mate, you buy a holden, there's no class, no style, nothing, just the fact that your car will look like every single other car on the road, and if you modify it, it'll be the same as every second car on the road, how many people do you see on a daily basis with a modded commodore? Commodores are like a scrotum, every prick has one.

| ok you guys have convinced me to stay :P probably looking at getting an 2002 325i with m3 kit now... hate how beamer parts have to be so expensive. damn regulator cost me 500 now theres a few other things i need to fix up before i can sell my baby |
| ||||
| that will probably be a good idea, but for about the same money you can hop into a 2000 330ci manual... That is a nice car and E46, etc.. I was hesitating between that and my M3 when I bought it, the M3 won but just ![]()

| Are we still off topic here??? Anyway, all I have to say is phew, definitely go with a 330ci as suggested^^^ Nice cars, my mate has the 330i 4dr, it's really nice to drive, he brought it on the last cruise we just had, so the 2dr would be a little quicker, better to handle, etc etc... Do it, love to see what you pickup, if you sell your 325i, can I have your rims, I'll swap them with mine

| BMW engines are built well. As long as you keep good oil up to it, and check that nothing has fallen apart everyone now and then. Hell, the computer even tells you when the water is low, the coolant is low, the lights are blown. The dash tells you when the battery isn't being charged, and when the oil pump isn't flowing... There shouldn't be any reason for it to die on you without warning. There is a bloke on the bimmerforums.com who has an e36 in the US.... he has done 600,000 MILES on it. His engine has been rebuilt only once. I think he was up to 300,000 - 350,000 miles or so when he rebuilt it (if my memory serves me right). He also said it was still powering on even at this stage, and didn't require rebuilding at this stage. A well cared for e36 engine should last you well over 300,000 km's. Hell, probably even 400,000 km's if it's a late model 6 cylinder which hasn't been neglected. With that said, apparently some of the earlier e36's with the older block + OBD1 came from the factory with some not-so-durable components like the plastic water pump impeller, plastic thermostat housing and clutch fan (which was apparently prone to aging and becoming brittle, causing it to shatter and send shrapnel around the engine bay). |
