Where to drive fast?

Hi everyone...

I want to do drive fast... on a track or circut. Not necessarily to wear out my tires/brakes and brag to the skyline club about my record beating track time... but just to give my girl a good thrash. Does anyone know a track you can go to, hand over a few bucks, and throw your car around a few nice bends? --> Has to be in Victoria (preferably Melbourne).

I know there are track days - but they are too serious for what I'm after. I know you're probably going to tell me I can drive fast on the road - but I would prefer to take my car around a nice track with some nice long corners and just see what it can do.

Any suggestions? Experiences?

...too expensive! I just want an hour on a circuit to have a bit of fun - not a whole day to race tune the car. Any other suggestions?

ive heard from mates that you can pay around $65 and go as fast as u want on the track... but not too sure hmmm....

i'd actually like to know for myself now where we could go

I think $65 is for the drag strip on friday nights?

I thought it was $25 to watch or $65 to participate at the drags.

Drags are one thing, 'track time' is another. I'm not too fussed about 1/4 mile times... I'm more about exploring the handling potential of my little beast.

Your only option in Vic is doing a track day with a club like BMWCCV. They are full day and around $220. Car has to go through scrutineering and pass, you need a helmet, etc etc.

BMW CCV will only have around 40 cars for the day so there is plenty of room on the track. There are many other clubs that do the same which are better organised, but they have a lot more cars 80-120, so it's a lot more packed on the track.

Sprint days are a bit more serious, so you are better off going to a go to a driver training day. Most clubs offer these.

The only other option is a driver training day offered by driver training compaines at places like sanddown, they strart at $200+.

Its not easy like in Germany at the Nurburgring where you rock up and pay for a few laps and go home!

Also looking for similar, I live only 7k's from Calder park in Diggers Rest... But too expensive, and I'm in the same boat, I want to play with the handling, not straight line power

Why not just hit the streets at night? Works fine for me. (And if your only looking for handling, than trust me going 90kmh around a-round-about is a good attempt :P)

Just dont go crashing around near where I live, I dont want to be dealyed going to work while they peel your face off a power pole!

I think Winton offer Free Practice days on Friday's every now an then. I think that is about $120 last time I looked. Only problem with that is that track is a few hundred k's away.

Whether it's a suggestion or a recommendation its still pretty stupid idea or thing to do.

At the end of the day, its your life, car, licence. Do with it as you choose. Just dont go crashing into anyone or running someone over!
