Is it the right ECU for the car? Has anyone checked? That would definitely send it into a Failsafe Mode. If he just grabbed the first ECU laying around when the truck showed up... it is a possibility.

YEA ecu and everything has been check on the car, we spent a few hours last night going over it. as i said i am waiting to talk to the owner first before i say anything about his car and the work done to it. dado is right it does not drive at all, just idle. i am sure it is a simple fix, i have faith in my skills to diagnosis a car and also friend cash came out and work the comp. so all in all, just have to wait and see. on a side note, who ever worked on his car last, i would not even take my sears push mower there for a oil change.

makes you wonder how people like that get such jobs?

Seriously so many "performance shops" hire people that are incompentent, what gives?

Sorry to hear about this

Chris,

Its rob from over on m3forum (the guy with the m5 that was at RMS---) Ive been out of town over the past week or so and just getting back into the swing of the forums but like I said on the phone to you when we first talked, Osh is never to believed. I know that we both were wishing that was he was saying is good/correct but it never turns out to be that way.

Im glad that you found guys in the industry to help you out with getting it back in order..although I think the single biggest point here is that the ECU Vin does not match the Chasis Vin....strange how that happens.

Just as a kinda boost in confidence...heres some vids of my car up and running strong.

If mine could be fixed as well as the other M5 like mine, so can yours. Sure its going to be frustrating and your going to want to hurt/mame certain people but just know it can run again.

vid one

vid two

us Ex-RMS'ers have to stick together....

and as for jimmy's comments to the effect of...your calling osh on on this? Do you hit yourself in the head with rocks man? Promising one thing, taking money for it and lying to a customer, damaging a car should not be taken lightly once once by a tuner, let alone the 30+ times its happened with RMS.

Once Chris has gone over everything you should post the list here, IF he gives the OK. Its his car and I'm not trying to be pushy in an already testy situation. I know I'm one of quite a few people who want to know what condition RMS left his car in (beyond what was already mentioned).

Good to see so many in the community coming together to work on this to put it right.
