| There aren't many BMW shops to begin with. I think "Orr Auto" near St. Louis Park is a good place to start from. Cheaper than a dealer, but still not cheap. They are an independant BMW/European shop.
Other than that, many auto shops will swap motors, etc, but I wouldn't trust them with a European engine swap since the vast majority of cars in this state are American-only. (Sad.) But if it's an older car, things will be much easier.
Oh, "Sears Import Auto" would also do a good job, but they are a Mercedes/BMW dealer. I normally buy my parts from them. My buddy crashed his E36 M3 into a wall and had them rebuild the car to stock spec. Did a VERY good job. Motorwerks BMW is another place, but I just don't trust them.
