| 92 has a non-Vanos engine 93 is first year of Vanos There is some minor suspension changes, but nothing big. The 93 has slightly better quality interior materials. The only visual difference is that the 93 has the top half of the bumper covers painted and the 92 has all gray bumper covers. Brian |

| Also, in 1993 as sports package was first offered. But I'd be a bit wary of a '92 325 since it was the first year and has been known to suffer a few gremlins.

| My first BMW was a 92 325i. It was a great car. No real issues popped up. It did get a new gearbox under warranty at 45k, but other than that I never had anything out of the ordinary happen with it. You can upgrade the front suspension dfference by using shocks from a 1993 and later 325/328. As far as remember, in 1992 only the sedan was available. 1993 was the first yer of the coupe. Brian |

| Vanos and the upgraded(?)/different suspensions were started in the '92 model year,in 9/92. The m50tu engine started with 9/92 build date 3 series, a few differences, the major one being VANOS. So if you get a late build date '92 3er then you'll have the same car(I think) as a '93. |

| engine difference + i think only the 92's had an all iron block. i'm almost sure... anyway i've heard others mention on the old bimmerforums board that only the 92 you dont have to worry about over-reving the motor. the 93's and up crap out => MAJOR fix. also without the Vanos, the engine can really appreciate any mods as it responds more aggressively. I have an auto so the over- rev isnt my worry but i can attest the she likes the little xtras ive put on ![]()

| For Euro versions, that is. ![]() The U.S. Version didn't get side markers until 1995. Jon Quote:

| You guys are missing the most imprtant part .. If you ever want to upgrade your motor to a M3 3.0 or 3.2 or make some real power you will need to change everything on the 92 unless you go stand alone . You do not have this problem with the 93 and up |

| yes the '93 motor has VANOS on the intake and a '92 does not, but there are other motor differences. the '92 cams are hotter, and the 92 has 10:1 compression while the '93 has 10.5 the '93 is the better motor because of cam options and the higher compression, but out of the box the '92 motor DOES make MORE power. but geta '93. |
