that does not mean that a proper manual or a 6 speed would not have been my choice if offered.

I'm not missing the point (E46 M3). There are still other cars I prefer with a manual but I have owned both, and I choose SMG for that platform.

Given traffic not being an issue and the car being strictly track / autox, would you still take the smg? Also with plans to boost of some sort down the line

At that point it doesn't really matter.. but you'd probably be faster with SMG.
