first docEd, now me with my S2000....

I just engaged in something very big with my s2000 before being cut

i decided to work with a local shop here and cut the car into pieces, yes it's an 03 with 3000miles on it, i must be crazy. I guess by now your wondering what I'm doing to this beautiful car...........

Well i didnt want to change anything on the car, i think it's gorgeous the way it is. I didn't want to put any bodykit, but wanted to do something different... so I decided to redo the whole front end with CARBON FIBER!!! the hood, both fenders and front bumper and eventually move to the back to do the whole car by the end of the summer.

It is a process which has started 4 weeks ago, striping the car into it's pieces, to be able to make the molds for every part, to be able to redo them in CF. Here is some pics of my car strip, actually the way it look's right now.

I'm going to keep you posted on the progress and it moves forward.

I went to the shop yesterday and they had finished all the molds for all 4 parts. The project its actually going forward faster than expected. I will probobly host a GB after this project is over on the fenders and front OEM bumper for does of you interested. Futurs plans consist of doing the back bumper and the thrunk.

Here is some snap shots of the molds in process.

Next step CF pieces, now this is the exciting part...

well my intentions are to redo the whole car in CF. for the first phase it is the front end, hood, bumper and both fenders, since i must cover some shows. PHAse 2 is the thrunk and the back bumper. I Have the intention of leaving it black since i like the way CF look's that 3D look, and it blends well with the car, since the roof is black, and my rims also.

and yes it cost much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

thats awesome. I can't believe you're not changing ANYTHING about the panels, though... I mean, while you're at it i dont see why you don't tweak it even a little. I'd be interested to hear how much weight you save, too.. I'm not guessing these 4 parts will save any more than 100 lbs.. good luck with it.

that is good on a E36, but on a s2000 the front fenders are flaired already. As for the back you can put 18x10 stock with 285 tires in the rear without flairing... so basically it would be useless..

So youre doing all this to get the look of carbon fiber?
That money could be going into the engine.
The only thing you should make is a carbon fiber hard top.

I wonder how safe CF is when a truck hits you at 30mph. My posint is that if this is not your road car, it's cool. However, if this is your daily driver or you drive it often, CF is not the way to go. Taking off body panels reduce a lot of the rigidity which is really unsafe. Well good luck.

well actually the s2000 comes with aliminum panels and hood, so i do not think it's alot stronger than CF. I actually think the cf is more solide. ONe way or another with an s2000 when a truck hits you, you are in trouble.

Dont want to tauch the engine yet, i dont want to void my garanty yet. FOr shure a supercharger is in mind for the futur.

ED ya i lost my mind also....
