My 328i Sport

I've owned this car for just over a year, previous to that I had a '93 325i SE Saloon. Pic of that below:

It's a UK model with the Alloy block M52B28 engine. As this was a factory Sport model it came with the full M-tech body kit, Sports seats, Avus suspension package and a 2.93:1 LSD. The car had been lowered on Eibach Sportline Springs when I bought it and had Staggered M3 Sunflower alloys fitted and they were the only modifications.

Pic of how it looked when I picked it up:

I didn't like the Sunflowers so sold them and fitted the wheels the car would have left the factory on. Staggered BBS RC041/2's. Fitted some smoked fog lights, some Gen 6 angel eyes and gave it a wash.

Then I felt the need for more power so fitted a modified M50 inlet manifold and a Big Bore throttle body (BBTB). Along with a Heatsheilded K&N induction kit (Dave F).

After I'd done that I put the car on a local Dyno to see what was what with the engine. It made 222.6 Bhp & 215 lbs Ft. Power at the wheels was 180.1 Bhp.

After that i thought i'd fit some 6000k HIDs to help me see a bit better at Night, they work well with the Angels too

Now the car does get driven fairly hard and drifted occasionally so things end up breaking! I've replaced both front wishbones with E30 items and fitted eccentric powerflex poly bushes, along with new ARB drop links. This tightened up the steering nicely. Then I had an engine mount go so replaced both and the gearbox mounts.
I then started to get a very noticable vibration through the drive train and couldn't figure out what it was so the gearbox came off and the cause was found, I'd broken the clutches pressure plate . So a new clutch kit was fitted, the CDV was deleted, a braided hose fitted and DOT 5.1 fluid added. Some pics of the broken clutch:

After this all was running fine and the car felt great . The next thing I wanted to do was shortern up the gearing slightly. I had a friend who had an M3 3.0 3.15:1 LSD who wanted to do a straight swap for my 2.93:1 LSD so I jumped at the chance and fitted the new diff . It's made a noticable difference to the acceleration and the gearing is about perfect for road use now.

All was fine for a while until I managed to rip the rear subframe mounts from the chassis . So off to BMW I went to get the reinforcement kit and the car went to a friend to be welded up and repaired. Car felt great when it came back.

And that about brings it up to date. Last week I had another problem with the car, what I thought was a busted RTAB infact it turned out that the threaded insert that holds the RTAB to the car had pulled from the chassis so that had to be welded back into place, I also fitted Powerflex Poly Rear trailing arm bushes while this was done.

Future plans are a bit of weight stripping and a remap, although the car is plenty fast enough as it is with the 3.15:1 diff and the engine modifications.

Here are a few pics of it in action followed by a quick video

Hope you like...

Great car man, its very clean. That is like the exact direction that I want to go with my 328. You've had just about as many problems with yours as I have, but it's definitely worth it though eh? Where in England do you live? I'm headed to London next year for an internship.

I'm not too far from London, live in Hampshire, about 35-40 miles southwest of London.

The stock LSD was a 2.93:1 rato, which meant the rear wheels turned 2.93 times to every turn of the propshaft. The current LSD is 3.15:1, so the rear wheels turn 3.15 times to every turn of the propshaft.

It's basically just lowering the final gearing and making all the gears a bit shorter thus increasing acceleration a bit.

The 3.15:1 ratio is pretty much perfect for road use, the gearing feels spot on now.
