Hey all!

Getting bored of the interior on my E36 2 door coupe. Can anybody give me any information about recolouring the door panels? (They have a GAY old lady pattern all over em)

Is it a job i can do myself (with no experience in anything at all really)
Are there any guides about on the net? (Ive searched and searched to no end)

If its not a DIY job, how much would it cost roughly to be done, and who does it?

Any help would be much appreciated.

As far as getting it done i'm not sure of any DIY's but you could go about it a few different ways. You could remove the panels and dye them which is very cost effective but it can fade from the sun in a few years. The more difficult route is to strip the covering off of them and replace them with cloth/vinyl/leather. It's not that hard to cover them you just have to take your time, get your measurements right and find the right glue to use. It's something a beginner can do if you just plan it carefully and take your time and have patience. You'll pop out the door panel, then pop off any inner pieces to it that you want to individually refinish. Remove the covering and pre cut (with overlap/extra material) your new finish, put the glue on and slowly apply the covering onto the panel, make sure it stays tight and get all the air bubbles out, a heat gun can help if your using vinyl or leather, it will help the glue spread evenly and get bubbles out easier. once it's smooth you can staple or sew the back side to keep it secure. I perfer staples for door panels since you dont have to worry about seeing any seems and staples will hold stronger. Seats are essentially the same process except you'll have to sew or staple the seams and make sure everything is completely secure. I did the whole interior on my e30 and one of my trucks.
