| BMW 135 Coupe and 128 Convertible at Chicago Auto Show More photos from the Chicago Auto Show. If I could afford two cars, the 135 coupe would be my weekend toy. LSD, up the boost, suspension and she'd be perfect! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

| His post contradicts himself, but what I think he is trying to say, is that the new 135 does not come with a "traditional" LSD, it comes with a diff that acts like an LSD would, although it is electronic, not mechanical, if I remember correctly from the articles I have read. The diff it comes with has stability control and all that, but it isn't a "true" LSD.

| It's basically the same system that comes on the Porsche Cayman and obviously the 335i etc... Open diffs can only provide the same torque to both sides... when you loose traction on one side; it spins and guess what - gets all the torque to keep it spinning... so effectively the other side - the one that HAS traction also does not get torque... So what they have done is use the brake on the side that is spinning to let the open diff deliver more torque to both sides... effectively the same thing as a LSD... but with the torque of the engine working against your inside wheels brake instead of a clutch... It actually could be a BALLS ASS GOOD system if they put a torsen diff in... So a 135i plus a quaife would ROCK.

| and we wont' know how well they have tuned the software until we try it... but I guarentee that while it may work to simulate a diff for track days where you really don't want too much rotation (more than maybe 20 or 25% slip); I'm pretty sure things like autoX will just totally not work with this type of electronic setup with out some mechanical help.
