Got my dakar detailed this weekend

Just had my car detailed by Chris Davis, a real pro at detailing. Check out his site at Refined Detailing - *Home Page*

If you live in the northern VA area, he is the best. He found time to get my car in great condition before i get 3m film put over everywhere in a few days.

I'll just quote what he wrote on Autopia detailing forum, also add some photos of my own:

Quote:
This detail was completed on Saturday. It was an exterior only. The car is a 1997 BMW M3 with only around 30-something-k. Wow! This car was in great shape considering its age. The client I detailed it for recently acquired the car about 6 months ago I believe. I didn’t really bother with before/after pics since the color wouldn’t show swirls on camera and its wasn’t too bad. Swirls were light to medium.

The reason for ALL the tape? Well, there was a lot of trim and the trim looked BRAND new. I was not going to be the one to burn or stain the trim! So I took a little more time to tape pretty much everything.

Process:

Wash and Spot Clay
HT EC with Yellow Cut @ 1800 rpms on roof only since there were some very fine long scratches that wouldn’t come out completely.
Menz SIP @ 1800rpms with Orange Cut Pad
Menz 106FF @ 1800rpms with Blue Finesse Pad
LSP = Pinnacle Souveran
Tires dressed with Z16

Pictures:

Hope I didn’t forget to tape the trim!

This was the only real before pic I took… Like I said, this color won’t show swirls on camera very well.

after:

here are my photos

some others

professional, brought all his equipment, 45 min drive for him. such a good guy.

Holy banana pudding! She came out perfect!

That is a beautiful dakar m Scott.

Do you have any plans for the car?

Where are you having the 3M applied besides the front end?

Again, simply stunning. A perfect example.

thanks for the kind words. I am close with Skip from pftfilms.com, we have done business together etc. so we are going to do a full kit, hood, bumper, mirrors, behind the wheels, etc. also going to try and get some custom stuff done some other places.

Oh, I love the colour. That is one of my favourite.
The car looks awesome. So clean, so original.
All parts fits.
Ich liebe dakargelb.
A company cleaned up my M3 last year.
And now it's a car for race.

It depending on how dirty is the car.
I payed for interior 120Euro and for the seats round about 600Euro, because
I got new leather and upholstery.

For exterior I payed 150Euro for cleaning ans special polishing.
