but it wouldn't have the same frontal area, and we both know that's what counts

And you can't fit an intercooler down low on an E34, ask me how I know IATs of ambient plus 4 when cruising and ambient plus 25 when loading, can't complain

Believe me, I'm quite aware of the lack of space for ICs in early cars (not E30s), including the E34 (though you think you have it bad, try fitting an FMIC in an E24 or E28.) Your IATs are pretty solid, that being said, there is room for improvement and flow throughout the system....then again, you could always get freaky with a sawzall and fix the problem

Actually I found the E24 M6 we had had TONS of room between the front nose and the rad support.

Up high? I found the shape of the space to be prohibitive...IE it's deep, but not very wide at that depth. The E28 is a joke, especially with euro bumpers...

Yeah E28/E34 they really limited. E30 and E36 they were like "hi here is a FMIC car"

Between that, and the size of its engine bay, the E30 seems to beg for insanity. As the former owner of an E28 M5 who really wanted to (and came very close to) FI, I wished it was like that...

In spite of the limited FMIC space (which is always solvable, the Scandinavians have proven that to be the case on quite a few E34s), your car is awesome. Makes power, and looks only about the business. Just how I like my turbo cars...my old 332 is proof

Even with the Holset I wouldn't expect that.

Nah your car is an amazing sleeper. I love the rear wheels! That is perfect for slicks!!!!!

Yep, those steelies are what the Scandinavians mount their wrinkle-wall slicks on
