| heres the deal: i am in college, therefore i have next to-no money. at this point i dont have a race license, so i am not competing. this car was cheap, its got 4 wheel discs, its a manual, handles pretty good, and has a decent amount of aftermarket support. the purpose of the car is not to be the fastest thing out on a road course, the idea of it is to get me through a few summers worth of hpde's with the local bmw club, so that some day when i have money to get a car to actually compete with, i'll have the experience that i need to do so. my iX is my dd, and i cannot afford to break it. ideally i would have liked to get another e30 for this purpose, but at this point i cannot afford the cost of acquiring another one, let alone maintaining 2 of them. the celica is cheap and japanese, unlike a bmw, which seems to cost me more than a grand every time i break something that i cannot fix myself, not to mention the crazy price of parts for a german automobile compared to parts for a japanese shitbox. is this starting to make sense to you guys now? apparently i am the only one in this situation.... btw, track slut = car meant for track use of some kind, and not so much for normal driving. must be term recognized only by scc readers.

| oh, and it is fwd. i know, it sucks, but its managable. like i said, i expect to be one of the slower cars. im not lookin for a trophy, just some valuable seat time. m3isgod- yeah my thoughts exactly. im thinkin by mid summer i should be able to afford a set of 15x7 kosei k1's with falken azenis or kuhmo ecstas. as for brakes, its a pretty light car so they can stay relatively stock for now, probably just brembo blanks and more agressive pads (when i get some cash together).

| yeah there is a 4wd turbo model but sadly i do not have it. its called a Celica Alltrac turbo and theyre hard to find because the people that have them know what they are and dont let them go easy.

| nice car. i would upgrade to all-trac calipers in the front (2 piston) sway bars and strut bars are a must. me personally i would go with a 16 or 17 in wheel. also upgrade your rear camber adjuster bars to the 94+ style they are the jam-nut style as oppose to the 5th gen cam style (the 5th gen cam style can get knocked out of alignment realy easy) if your gonna be tracking it i think it is a must. and you probably already know SHORT SHIFTER! |

| Probably could have picked something with better aftermarket support and even cheaper ... like a Civic. But to each his own. Good luck with it. But yeah, your starting mods should be the same for pretty much every car. Suspension, brakes, and then maybe wheels. Just beat the hell out of the stock wheels/tires until you need new tires.

| i think the best track car you couldve chosen would be a civic/integra or a 240sx they are cheap and easy to work on. i always planed on gettin a s-13 240sx and ka24's could run turbos w/stock internals just good tunning. so think about it!!!!!! they also got more parts for these cars then that celica |
