So does my e30

I think that's a fine choice for what you want, civics are overrated (or arrre they?). FWD is fine, you can go balls deep all the time and feel very safe. I used to track my 99 Corolla and it was fun rain or shine. When I try to drive the e30 it suuuuucks in the rain, and mistakes seem to be a bit more costly in RWD... you can't just point the wheels and power out.

I don't know anything about aftermarket parts for Japanese cars, so you're on your own... in fact, I havn't been helpful at all Oh well, i'm sure you'll have fun.

Civics actually can be made to be pretty sick. A 93-95 EG hatch is probably the best (or the previous EF generation). The EGs were VERY light, and they were the original tuner sport compact car. The aftermarket support for them is PHENOMENAL and pretty much everything that can be thought of has already been done (I'd like to take one and make it RWD with a Nissan powerplant, not sure if that's ever been done!). They can also be made to turn on a dime as well. Very good car when built and done right.

Nah, I want an EG hatch in RWD fashion. Coupes are ugly. Hatches, ftw.

Just my opinion, buying a FWD car to learn in while building up to a track BMW was sort of a silly move. The cars have entirely different track characteristics and there'll be a world of difference in the way they will handle a course. You'll wind up having to re-learn and adapt when you pick up a track BMW.

True, but you're gonna have to relearn whenever you drive any new car, whether it's a similar drivetrain or not. In my experience, track time is good in any car, and the easiest car to drive is safest to begin with. Kinda along the lines of you don't go out an buy a 1000cc bike as your first one.

very good point, however, I still believe the transition may have been easier in a non FWD car. I don't mean to shoot you down by any means, I just feel that there were probably better options. This is the car you came across for the proper budget at the right time, not everyone can say they have a dd and a track car! happy apexing!

FWD cars can outhandle RWD cars. A N1 group Civic Type R beat a NSX Type R on Suzuka. A street legal Civic Type R also beat an S2000 on the same circuit. It all depends on the cars setup. I say AWESOME buy and nice representing the last of Toyota's sports car generation.
