My name is Brian Hahn and I am new to dtmpower. I am also a part of teckeast. I just bought a 1993 325is with 173,000 miles on it. So far I don't know if I like BMW yet b/c I got the car for $3000 and I have put $1300 in the car in the last two weeks. I have put a clutch, universal joint, brakes, tires, wheel barring, plugs, and I hate BMW dealerships they suck. I need to find someplace to get parts cheaper.

very nice and welcome to dtm man join the bmw cca it's $35 a year and you get 10% off of parts and at some shops also

Congratulations on the car, looks to be in decent shape for having 173k on the clock.

Ellipsoids and clears would clean everything up, as well as getting the bottom moldings color-matched.

always try to find your replacement parts on the internet, try to stay as far away from the dealer as possible if you dont wanna go bankrupt.

I've seen people with E39 M5s begging the dealer for an appointment for general maintenance!! It feels like as a new employee at the dealer, you're given a course in arrogance and incompetence.

I can tell you that the guys in parts at Global Imports in atlanta are awesome! they were giving me a cca discount without asking for my card. The thing is to find a guy in parts and stick with him. make sure he knows who you are and what car you drive. "Hey this is Rich with the black e30, I need door handle surrounds"
"They will be at the cashiers waiting for you"
I agree that there is an elitist (spelling) attitude with most, but the one thing I have noticed (e30 guys chime in if you agree) by the time I leave the parts dept. and walk out to my car, there is a group of salesmen, customers, and service guys crowded around it. When I went to look at the e90s at a dealership in north atlanta, there were more people looking at my rig than the e90s or the e46 m3 that I was parked next to. The pres. of the dealership walked out and talked with me for half an hour about his first e30 and how great they are...... I dunno, it's real easy to humble those guys if you know what you are talking about.....

I have found that in smaller shops there can be the same attitude as well. Kinda like Jack Black in High Fidelity.... You just gotta find a parts place that helps you out.... I like BMP.
