| ive got around 5-6 grand to play with...thats it, any options? im not sure about what to get. like that motor is very nice i beleive its an S14 but im sure its to pricey to start with. i dont want RIDICULOUS POWER and shit but i want some good torque factor. mabe like 0-60 in the mid 5 to 6 second range...apposed to my 9.4 second 0-60 that i currently have now |

| F.I. S50. itll be expensive, but ur only 16....uve got plenty of time to save and mod. I would normally say use the S52, but i dont think u can legally go OBDI. Maybe someone can help me out here...but doesnt the engine have to originally be OBDI?

$5-6000 for all your mods or just engine? the rear end will probably cost over $2000 then you need the m3 subframe with axles and stuff, driveshaft and tranny. then i dont know what you want for a roll cage but they arent cheap either. suspension can go over $3000 easy. since your goin to be goin faster and youll probably want to take it to the track, you might want a big brake kit which could go up to $5000. then your interior is up to you but if you want racing seats and stuff it will proably cost you around 1500 at the low end. plus you have your engine on top of this. a s50 can go for $4000. im looking into this stuff and your budget has to be a lot larger then $6000 but like said before, your only 16 so keep saving and keep modding and youll eventually get there anybody correct me if im wrong on any of this stuff. its just off the top of my head.

| hahahah what is OBD1 or w/e. lol i am quite confused and yes i am going to save up and eventually either mod the 1984 or buy a 95 or 98 e36 m3 im not sure yet...but yea the interior is the least of my problems im not going to be a TRACK driver or anything i just want something with a little more power than the rest....u know what i mean a daily driver...yet a fun driver at teh same time? 6G could be enough...i dont want hardcore mods but then again i do...hhaahha because im 16..we always think ahead of the game |

| are you goin to be doing the swap by yourself? im not trying to put you down or anything but how familiar are you with cars and working on them? i think its awsome that you want to do this on your own if you do, jsut make sure you have someone to phone if you get stuck. OBD1 has to do with the emissions. after 1995 all cars changed to OBD2 and OBD2 cars are harder to mod due to the more emission equipment.

| thanx for the help guys. i guess i shouldnt mod the 318 and mabe save up for a E36 M3 cuz that would rule ass. and im just starting to learn about cars and everything that has to do with the motor. i dont know much about the rear end yet. but i want to put some little things on the 318...like at the moment i want either buy an intake system for it. or custom make one out of some old shop pipe. if anyone can find a site with aftermarket intakes id be jumping for joy. thanks mate. |

| if you had a few more grand you could get a nice e36 325is or 328i, and those will have more reliability and are a little more practical for someone your age, besides I dont think that you want to know the maintence costs for a high mileage m3. the 318i will be plenty for the next few years just try and be patient. |

| My first mod to my 325i was buying an m3. After looking at what everyone does to 325/328's and researching prices it was just more cost effective to buy an m3.
