Jeff's 04 SRT-4

Two words: Stupid Fun

Jeff let me take his modified SRT-4 out last night, and I cannot get over how much fun I had driving it. The various noises the car makes are straight out of a video game, and the power is simply addicting. I love how much torque is available to rip the car out of the hole as long as one isn't foolish enough to immediately drop the hammer all the way down.

I was surprised at how well the car handled a few aggressive offramps. I have never been a fan of FWD cars, but given that it is the only real "drawback" of the SRT-4, I can easily forgive this caveat - It's not like the car handled poorly whatsoever, and I actually found myself getting comfortable with the ST-4s tendency to roll a bit during hard cornering due to there never being a lack of grip.

And did I mention the sounds this thing makes? They're something else. The HKS blowoff is enough to frighten unsuspecting motorists. The exhaust snaps, crackles and pops SO loudly at times that it draws the attention of everyone around you, with one little girl actually grabbing her father and saying "Daddy! That car sounds like FIREWORKS" as I was coming to a stop in front of her. One car, packed with teenagers, sidled up next to me and started pointing at the huge FMIC. Then they started hooting and hollering for me to get on it. I gave them a taste, and cracked the blowoff valve right next to their open window - which provoked a round of applause and renewed screams for more, but there were cops up ahead directing traffic, so that was the end of that. One thing is for sure - the car gets a LOT of attention, be it from those who either love the car, hate the car, or want to race it.

Jeff's SRT-4 is the kind of car that I could get myself into a lot of trouble if I owned it.

Oh and any dipshit who decides to come into my thread with anti-Dodge, "It's still just a Neon," or any comments of the sort, will get a week long ban. It never serves any purpose but to start a shitstorm, and this time I am not having it - Keep that crap to yourself and out of this thread.

Thanks Chris,
Dude I had a great weekend and I thank you for the detail...the car looks dripping wet in the pics and as it sits now.

I knew you would have fun in the car last night

That's one clean ride, I like the side exhaust, and the wheels suit perfectly.

A full detail and yet no tire shine?

wet black paint must be accompanied by glossy black tires.

The "eyebrows" really, really set that car off. Looks pissed as hell with that big fmic up front too.

Badass car man.

Would you recommend it over a E36 325is in the handling and tracking area? There is a SRT-4 at Balise and a 99 325is at Longmeadow Motor cars. Can't decide which one is more worth it.

A 99 "is" would be either a 328is or a 323is, and I really don't know how to answer the question as it comes down to your priorities. If all around balance and nimble response is what you are after, and you can handle not driving the fastest thing on the road, the 328/323 is an amazing car, with a world of modifications available for it. The SRT-4 is a different kind of fun, in an "I can take on the world" speed, boy-racer acumen, and the ability to mod it safely to the point where it will walk an E46 M3 in a straight line. There are also coilover suspensions available for the SRT-4 that make it quite a competent handler, but its FWD setup can prove difficult to love if you are used to a RWD BMW.

It comes down to what kind of car you are looking for. Both are a lot of fun, but it's a completely different kind of fun between the two cars.

Beautiful.

The car looks insane, I can only imagine what driving it is like. What kind of numbers are you putting down, Jeff?
