Black out grille was never an option. At least I don't believe it was. It is probably just aftermarket kidney's.. Great looking car nonetheless. I thought the 1996 came with the S50 engine though. By the looks of your intake manifold you have the s52. Am I wrong here?!!

I'm pretty sure both of you are wrong lol, 96+ is S52 (OBDII) this is common knowledge.

As far as the grills go, I've never heard of this and I've been on these forums forever. If it was a BMW part number I'm not sure why everyone paints/pays $100 for hamann blackouts.

lmao the 1 owner, m3-bmw-freak that I bought this car from said it was a factory blacked out grill that late model 1996 model cosmos black m3's came with... it was one of my 1st questions... did you paint that grill or is it aftermarket...he instantly replied with this huge explanation... I argued... then he argued back again... I beleive... dont see why he wud lie...

currently the car has 98k...only way I could afford my dream, was to get my dream car with some mileage...its in excellent condition, 1 owner before me took great care of it. As for my plans, they are endless…looking into forced induction…supercharge or turbo, undecided. Ordered some clear corners and still contemplating on which cat-back exhaust system I should get
