my vote is to not spend money on ugly wheels...

to p/c you will drop $400, and you will need to find some temp wheels while yours are being treated... spend the extra $500-$600 on some used wheels if cash is your concern.

Acutually a friend of mine works at a Porsche Audi dealership (bodyshop dept) and would paint them for free (I'll still probably throw some cash his way) but it would be much cheaper than buying a new set. Plus I never see a set of 17s or 18s with porsche fitment for $1000.

Does the boxster have the same fittiment as the 996? I *believe* there are some cheap turbo twists on 6spd online... Honestly you have a set of good wheels, you can spend time searching for cheap used replacements - if you can get them painted for free, preferably with several coats as to avoid the finish coming off, go with as dark of a gunmetal as you can & polish the lip.

*do not* get gloss black (it, believe it or not, shows off brake dust worse than silver wheels).

Gunmetal w/ polished lip. What about just the spokes and center area? You have part of the rim between the spokes gunmetal in the pic. Just an idea.
