Ok, so it's not my BMW or even a real car, but...
Volkswagen Scirocco. Adobe Illustrator CS. Lots of hours.
Reference Photo 
I drew a lot of it freehand and scanned. It's all original, though. very little tracing. I traced the major body lines from the reference photo, then traced the new lines (arches, bumpers, hatch spoiler) from the various scanned sketches. Details and actual refining of the lines was done from scratch directly in illustrator. The wheels were traced from the [BBS S-RS] wheels on my BMW but with a little more lip. The interior is modeled after a ferrari interior, but I had to redraw it from scratch at the right perspective. Porsche inspired cluster. Doors like the SL300 (with their really high door sills).
Still a few things I'm going to tweak a bit, but the next step is to export to photoshop and color it. Expect that in a couple weeks at least.
I did another similar illustration about 6 months ago:
and thought since i left it stock I'd do another version that was highly modified. If I could build this car, I would. Things like the vents and the notches in the rear bumper (not to mention the doors) are probably controversial, but would probably be much more subtle in reality and will look more that way once its colored.
