| Just thought I would share what Rain and a boxster with low tread equals.. ![]() Car belongs to my best friends father. My friend was driving it home from the dealer ship after buying a few things for their X5. When he reached his exit on Storrow Drive (Boston) his rear in kicked out wich lead to him sliding sideways into the other lane. That made the car in the left lane T-bone him wich made the car fly into a guard rail and finaly come to stop. He was only doin about 40 mph and the tires were bad. They end up having to close Storrow Drive down for about 30 min and if you live in boston you know how busy of a street storrow drive is. Last edited by E36mike : 01-07-2004 at 10:02 AM. |

| Yeah he walked away from it.. i think what happened is he down shifted to early making the rear end slide sideways.. and the tires werent bald really but if they had more tread he prolly could have saved it.. and your right it isnt really the cars fault.. |

| FOR THE RECORD, my tire were not bald or bad or anything close to that. They were still in good shape and had around 30% tread left on them. It was infact raining pretty hard and I was not yet close to my exit. I went to change into the right lane when my car fishtailed right, them left and into the rail and I got hit by another car, and it sucked I never said it was the cars fault, these thing somtimes happen in the rain. Get this, the body shop isn't even sure if its totaled![]() |

Well if you don't know storrow drive, it is a windy, bumpy three lane, 40mph highway. I was in the middle lane on right hand turn. I went to change into the right lane, making the turn tighter when my car began to fishtail to the left, the I turned the wheels to the left, making the cars rear swing to the right. Then there must have been grooved pavment or a dry spot or somrting that made the tires grip. Unfortunatly it was too late to utilize the grip because by now the car was on a strait pash in to the rail. I hope its totaled too! Last edited by stell : 01-07-2004 at 03:58 PM. |

| Are your air bags blown? It looks like your glass is shatered all over the place, and the damage is really bad, i would be quite surprised if the insurance company decides to repair it and not make it a salvage title...

| Yea now five days after the accident they still havnt given us a responce on whether its totaled or not. You know how insurance business works, the body shop asseses it, the adjuster comes, all that stuff. It takes forever. The airbags did not deploy, if they had it would be totaled for sure.
