Under the knife.. rollbar and CF progress

As many of you know, my car is under going massive surgery at CDOC performance shop in Charlottesville, VA (sister shop of DAS Sport). The ETA is still going to be another 4-5 weeks i'd guess, but the wait will be well worth it-

To catch people up who are unaware, they are fabricating a completely custom front bumper, kevlar reinforced splitter, vented (and non vented) hood, grp A side mirrors, rear dekcklid, stock and custom race wings, customer rear bumper, and custom rear diffuser all from Carbon Fiber of the highest quality (these guys do Ruf bumpers!).

One interesting point Colin made was that the factory decklid, though already composite was near 20lbs! The CF version should be incredibly light in comparison.. also, the race wing under construction is an adapted E36 M3 Evo race wing. It will have the same top section with a completely adjustable foil, but with a different base and mounting plate for the E30 M3. The efficiency of these wings over old-school gurney flaps is huge.. here are pics of the wing they currently make for the E36 from DAS (their sister company):











In addition, they are constructing a gorgeous rollbar with a removeable center section (in the pics it is just being jigged up)..

And for those interested in hoods, as i mentioned, there will be stock and vented versions available, and the weight will be under 10lbs.

My plan as of present is the paint the rollbar body color.. all of the panels will be painted white as well with the exception of the adjustable flap on the wing, the diffuser, side mirrors, and front splitter.

rollbar will be nice, but if you do it body color, you better leave the backs of your new buckets black.....

So what do you suggest Bobert? The rollar will definitely be white, and i'm going to cover the exposed under-backseat area with some plain black carpet.. probably red or black 6pt 3" camlocks..
