My God, it's like talking to a wall. No wonder the guy who wrote the original thread was pissed off. When did rice become a manufacturing term? Rice has nothing to do with manufacturing, IT IS A deragatory expression, just because it's used everyday doesn't mean that it's not rude. Whoever wrote that last post to "response to rice guy" sounds ridiculous. You may be Asian but you're fooling yourself. Rice doesn't have anything more to do with cars then camel, moon, coon, or anything else he pointed out does. Just because it's fallen into everyday use only means that because Asians typically stay so silent about discrimmination ulike other groups of people that no one is being a watch dog for them. The term rice is just like any other word, it doesn't matter how oftern it is used, if it is derogatory to some people then it is derogatory. That's that. What if I were to say that I don't think the "N-word" is derogatory. It just doesn't bother me, and besides it just slang for the word negro, which means black and that's just a color, so how can that be a racial slur. It's just crazy. Seriously, it's like trying to make a point to a wall. So, don't bother replying because I won't be posting anything else. It's not worth the energy it takes to try and make a legitimate point to bunch of little boys. I'm with the first guy. This is lame.

First, I suggest you learn the history behind the term "rice" as it applies to the automotive tuning world.

The term was STARTED BY ASIANS. The first time it was used referring to motorized vehicles was back when Japanese motorcycles were making huge leaps in the sport bike arena. They were the original "rice rockets" or "crotch rockets".

Then the term was used back and forth with the newly formed compact car from (whoa, can you believe it?) the Japanese. The one car that keeps coming to mind is the original CRX. I don't know how many times that car was called a "pocket rocket" and then later a "rice rocket" by us Asians.

Do your research before you start defending us "timid" Asians. And thanks for stereotyping Asians so blatantly in your response.

I think you should check yourself before you start attempting to "defend" us weak, timid, silent Asians. We can defend ourselves just fine, thank you very much.
