| There is a library of posts that are very helpful to some of us. It seems as though the current people are focused on the newer models and it would be bad for the people with e30's and the older models lost their posts because i think they wouldn't be replaced.

| I say keep it as-is. I love this site, and I always look forward to the wealth of information. And when I answer someones question around my area, and they ask me how I know, I can say with pride dtmpower..... I love this forum as is. Change can be good, but just like the song goes: "if it aint broke, dont try to fix it" Just my .02

| Here are my views opinions etc from what I understand… - Please keep in mind that we should just discuss the situation involving the forum, we all know the rest of the site has gone to shit (not just the forum) and needs to be redesigned and updated and given more content but in reality that’s not the issue were dealing with here. - The idea that someone who has a posts count of 1,000 in one year doesn’t necessarily mean that this person made a bunch of good posts… some of the people ive seen in recent years simply say “Awesome!” and other spam at every post… if someone has been on the site from the beginning and has just 200 incredibly well written smart responses then its probably much better for the community. That’s all I will say about post count, which is a retarded subject anyways. - Not only does making changes to the forum cut some of the “fat,” it will also probably speed up the site. The more users you have with there profiles, etc the more space it takes up and slower searches and display times are. Maybe we should think about updating vBulliten as well, I'm sure there would be some nice updates and changes it would give. - It’s hard to have this whole argument when there are people that didn’t know what the site was like when it started… I'm not saying I am a hardcore OG but I sure as hell remember a totally different feel and community when this first started. - The site NEEDS to be renovated, if this community is as strong and as good as you guys think it is currently, then it can only be better after some work to it. - Anyone who says now adays just “use the search” haven’t tried it in years. It simply doesn’t work or give any sort of help. - Hmm what else… umm I guess if the people who are in charge, the people who are most important to this site and made it what it is what to change it, I think that’s something that should be respected. If the majority of the people who started out on this site hardly ever go to it or think its crap I think that’s something that should be taken into account… I just typed way too much about this, I'm just bored at work. And like others have said, I am a resource that could be used to help rebuild redesign whatever, I'm a graphic designer anyways. piece

| I completely agree with Scott May. DTM is not like it used to be, obviously, since a lot of OG members have moved on to other forums to access more technical discussions and such. I think even a lot of regional forums here have been deserted, and that's where most of your participation comes from. Changing the forum format (skins, vBulletin, etc) would mean shying away from the classic, yet unique DTM, DTM that we have all gotten to know and love. While change is sometimes good, sometimes it's not. Sometimes it's better to reorganize slightly, update more, add more, etc. What I think should be a strong focal point is to regroup a lot of the older influential members and set off to do what was done in the beginning history of this site: recapture a youngun's heart. That means update other portions of DTM, like videos, show coverage, pictures, articles, car of the month, you know the whole 9. Then you will see people flocking here again with peaked interests, revisiting regional forums, setting group meetings, etc. -Alen |

| I like the way it is. Everything works very well and the design/layout is sweet. No doubt this is the best BMW forum online. More Tech Talk how-to type stuff would be cool. I found some tight stuff there for the '92 back in the day. I need some how-to's for the 2003 under factory warranty. |

| [quote=tdc]That's just it, even though it pains me to say it, it has been "broke" for quite some time now. I have the utmost confidence that the new renovations will be beneficial for the community as a whole and provide the site some new life. I think renovations would be really helpful - I have experienced this on one of the knife forums I haunt/use and the result was a much nicer/faster site that that everyone benefitted from - I really like DTMPOWER and its look/feel but its time for a change/update - just having it run faster & be easier to maintain will benefit everybody, plus allow the shaping of how the site will look. I agree with Scott that it's time to upgrade - the strength is the people on the forum and that will remain - there is new software & features that will make this much better for everybody IMHO! "Let's git 'er done!" Bill |

| I think a big problem is that there aren't as many people around as before who know the technical aspects about the cars. I miss the days of discussion on how and why to do things. Its seems the mods who used to be assigned to the forum sections have fled. Who is the e46 mod? I miss the old days of DTM and would be happy to see it half as busy as it was before.
