| Smog Legal 500hp Advice Hey Dado-
I spoke with you a while back about doing an OBD1 conversion on a '98 ///M engine, and you had some great advice, but now I need some more! I spoke with the borther of the guy who did your engine work at Active Autowerks, and he had some good ideas which I will be recieving from him via email tomorrow. I had planned to get 350-400 hp on a 3.2L engine, converted to OBDI, and eventually end up with 500hp by adding an intercooled supercharger (which seems financially feasible). After speaking with the guys at Active, I have to entertain 2 new possibilities- 1.) run a modified engine with the OBDII software, but with the upper manifold, etc., off an OBDI engine in conjunction with either a turbo or a s/c, or 2.) run an entirely OBDII 3.2L engine with an active turbo stage 2 kit. BOTH of these options are a little expensive, and make me question whether or not this is project is even possible. I am looking for sponsors and advice on how to accomplish 2 primary goals for this project- I need to pass California smog requirements (not visual), and I need 500hp (on the engine, not to the wheels).
If I know you well enough, you have some great ideas for me, so lets here 'em!!!!
Thanks so much in advance, and I will also be placing this email as a post in one of the forums. Can't wait to here from you!!!!
