| A note everyone should read. Hey guys...well where to start? I recently was made aware of another australian bmw site...germantechnik.com. It seems seven/cplagz has started one and is new mod... Guys, what has this come to? Seriously...from what i understand, and the posts ive read - the general idea seems to be some people were unhappy with the way mods were running this forum - a 'nazi style censorship' guys...the whole point of dtm australia is that it brings toegther everyone in australia who is a bmw owner. This other forum...just kinda breaks up the unity we all have built -and the club pride shared by many members. Can't we just work sh*t out and make some kinda compromise... Basically i feel that the existence of an opposing forum is kind of creating bad blood between two sides. Everything that ought to be said and needs to be said CAN be done so here...If all people wanna do is swear a bit more, post pron or OT more, they can here - just in the right areas, ie. 'discussion thread'. Why can't just all posts made on GT be made here too? I really don't see the point of another forum that could divide members...including both new and existing. I do however realise that each forum shares some mutual members happy to be in each...but that kinda brings me to my point before - that is, all posts could be made here too, why create another entity to confuse and compete? DTM has already got such a solid base, we should build on it - not try to fragment it. Anyways. Just my two cents...please pitch in - i just wanna get a good discussion going on from either side of the argument. And please f*ck off if all you want to do is flame. If you should want to see GT - it is here the current mod is sevene38/cplagz. Discuss away fellas. Ps. do not create a separate thread about this on GT please...it'd be much more convenient viewing the debate on one thread...

| Some familiar faces over there....which haven't been seen here for a while. Hard to comment - I'd prefer one strng forum to a bunch of weaker ones - then again, sometimes there needs to be a "changing of the guard" - its a natural thing - main point is to keep this forum relevant to the members - and if its not, to make sure that the mods know of our concerns and have a chance to address them... |

| There are plenty of good BMW forums; about 6 months ago some people went over to bimmerforums. If people want to post general stuff that has nothing to do with DTM or BMW’s this can be done in the members lounge. I have opened up a discussion thread in the Australia forum where people can chat away. This topic is continually raised, and all that ends up happening is a fight’s breaking out. As Simon said above "main point is to keep this forum relevant to the members" That is BMW's. I am sure germantechnk.com may suit the needs of some of our members better. Here are some other BMW sites. www.bimmerforums.com www.bmwm5.com. www.e46.dtmpower.net Enjoy ![]()

| I cant see the problem. Why read one book when you have the whole library available. People post on different forums for different reasons. I believe Adam (BMWBOY) has posted on Bimmerforums.com and NICOT is a moderator there. He is also a Moderator here. I think as long as the administrator and all moderators are doing their job properly and fairly you'll have nothing to fear. Its when they dont that you will see mass exodus to other forums. Here are few others in case you wanted to have a look see. GCCV BIMMERFEST UNOFFICIALBMW BMWE30.NET DTMPOWER.ZE A South African based forum.

| I don't see the problem in browsing through 2, 3, or 20 different forums. I browse through DTM, GCCV, GT, MCCR, Team AZM etc quite regularly. Yes, things on DTM Power have changed, and yes, a lot of people from this site are browing other forums. Some people just don't like the ways in which things are run here. So what? I'm still here although I don't agree with a lot of decisions that are made. But I can put up with them. I have been here for over a year, and I love this place. When something happens that I don't like, I have no hesitation in telling that person. At the end of the day, some decisions have been made on this site which have pissed a lot of people right off, and they have decided to leave, it's their decision, and I think these decisions should be respected. Personally, I have no problem with this site. As I said, I still love it, and I'm happy to make my contribution, even though I now also have other things on my plate (such as being a mod on GCCV) That being said, I think this thread is total BS. No offence to Chi, but IMO this is just going to stir up trouble. We don't need a DTM Power Vs the rest of them attitude, and I feel this thread is contributing to that sort of a division. |

| ..You have the freedom to browse and be members of any forum, it reallly depends what it is you're looking for, I came from Unofficial BMW to DTM because DTM has this Australian based forum, I still go to Unofficial BMW for technical advice, because quite frankly they have an excellent core base of technical advisors and help. Those dudes saved me thousands already, nevetheless I chose to post regularly here because its an Australian based forum and we discuss aussie issues with our cars. |

| i love this forum and it's been a HUGE help to me, but i also use about 3 other forums and they're just as fun as this. www.hotbimmer.com www.bimmerforums.com www.germantetechnik.com www.ultimatecarpage.com- check this one out cos i've got the biggest reply post- in european cars i don't think there is a 'nazi' style leadership, but by what u wrote 'chi' it sounds alot like one don't u think? |

| Competition is good. Chi - maybe you would prefer an Australia where only Telstra existed if you wanted a phone line, only Qantas existed if you needed to fly etc. Competition allows everyone to refocus and improve their current ways. All I know is that in the few *days* of being on GT, I've already put aside time for two major things - one cruise and one go-karting night. That's more than I've done on DTM in four *months!* (aside from small meet ups etc). Why is it that everyone makes the cruise on GT? Maybe they are more dedicated to cars than to boards? Anyway, it does not really matter. Those people who do not come to DTM as frequently as they used to will be replaced gradually (look at all the new members!) so there is not really much to worry about ![]() If you don't like the competition, don't visit the site. But to tell people that they are wrong for using their given right to express democracy is not on ![]() O.

I don't think anybody here feels that they have to be restricted into what sites they participate in because they are a pre-existing member of a particular forum, thats crazy-talk. If an "Us against Them" mentality ensues, then so be it, but with threads like this it is only perpetuating that attitude. How about the death of the IRC channel? That was something handled really smoothly and says a lot for existing DTM members' thoughts about the current state of affairs... ![]()

| Hey again guys... Yeah I understand all your points. I guess I haven't been on DTM long enough to notice any true depreciation in forum members/quality... I'm not trying to promote a 'us vs them' thing...i'm just trying to create more 'us'. I enjoy having a unified group here at dtm... I'm not trying to enforce anything here nazi style... barge i'm not even a mod?! Either am i trying to force people out of democratic decisions... Some of you have got me all wrong...i'm simply trying to hold together what we still have. I'm not giving reasons as to why people can't go to other places, i'm just asking why can't we stay here and all be happy? I don't really want to say anything else i guess. I hope GT members will visit DTM frequently and still come to meets... For everyone that wants to know, i will be joining GT...i like to stay in touch with everyone. My presence here on dtm will not change but! Dtm will always be a forum i love and enjoy being a part of - it'll always be my main haunt. Plus GT members...about bad blood - try to cut down on the 'how nice is it to post OT and not get reamed' style comments...then just maybe both forums can get along a bit better. I might've sniggered the first time but now it's tiresome...Cheers all - can't wait till the next cruise!!!
