Walking down memory lane.....

Every so often in my day to day life I'm asked about my car, or why I drive a bimmer. I have a pretty standard response most of the time, "its fun to drive". On a rare day, its a fellow bimmer driver and I'm able to exchange a few stories, and really get to the good stuff about why I drive the car that I drive.

I come on here once in awhile, and take "a walk down memory lane". Browse some of the posts that are 4, 5, 6... even 8 years old (or as far back as this DB will let me). Re-visit some of the times we had "back in the day". Look at the pictures, and just remember.

How I was introduced to DTM, Halloween 2001. Rolling into Kamiak's car show 25 cars deep. Alex's money shift on the way to Portland. Too many Sunday morning brunches to count. New movie releases, and late nights at Denny's. Installing superchargers, and BBQ'ing steak! Hot import nights. The sad day my beloved M3 (and I) went over the cliff on Chuckanut drive.

Through all of those memories the key was being with friends.

People come and go on this board, epecially now that its nearly traffic-less. House, families, work, new cars... (maybe just getting older) they all seem to have broken up what used be a pretty tight knit group. Sure, I still get the an e-mail; see a picture; even talk to/hang out with some of you.

Pretty much all I'm really trying to say, is thank you.

Thank you to all the friends I've made here, thank you to all the information that is sharred here, and thank you the memories we built.... if I could do it over, I wouldn't change a thing.... well maybe the Nov '04 drive to Chuckanut.

The next time someone asks me why I love bimmers so much... I'm going to tell them "Friends", and just leave it at that. They probably won't understand, but I will... and you will, and that my brothers is all that matters!

I couldnt agree more. I've made some of my best friends on here (and other car forums). If it werent for my car I doubt I would have ever met a majority of the people I know now and have traveled to the places that I have been.

some of my best memories over the past 5 years have been with the DTM crew. from the drives and after parties, brunches and photo shoots at alki. you made a great post. zach and I are actually getting together some of the old crew for a party like the old days. i will make a thread when i get the final date. but it will be very soon. need some of you to spread the word as most have left the site. but i can relay to a lot of them through facebook.

Well said! I also take a great deal of pride in the friendships I have made through this group. I am definitely one of the people that have kind of faded away; moving away for two years, coming back to a silent forum, getting married, and now re-investing my time in a business. Even after all of that I almost ordered DTM stickers for my latest car last month!

I pretty much grew up with this group. Many incredible memories, irreplaceable trips, and passions for life. One of my biggest dreams is to own a racetrack and invite all my friends to lapping days. Most of my dream cars are modified BMW's. I developed a love and passion for photography after taking pictures of our cars like everyone else did; many of my travel dreams now revolve around photography.

Again well said, and I owe lots my my own THANK YOU!'s to all you who accepted a goofy shy kid who just wanted to be part of the crew.

Time has definitely flown since the original days of dtm. Lots of good memories and good friendships formed. Times have definitely changed, not only have we grown up and moved on to other things as well, but the whole scene itself has changed. Its not what it used to be.
