wheel prep

i just bought audi tt replica wheels for my b5, but i noticed a lot... and i mean A LOT of bondo and half-assed paint on the wheels.... what do i do to prep it for paint? i know i need to sand it down, but what steps/grits do you recomened?

well you have to sand down all the paint off tthe wheel to the bare metal then primer, paint then clear coat if you want i painted my rims and it took about 5 hrs to do all 4 wheels

Most places grit (bead) blast them first. It's quick and easy if you have the equipment.

is there anywhere local that does this? i'm not lookin at spending hours on these wheels, i want it done lol i sold the mk2 and got the b5 so i would no longer have projects

well you could take it to fostor spelling they do a good job but alittle spendy

not sure but i do knw that a few members took their cars there and they have no problems with them yu get what you paided for

Just make sure it's large enough for your rims, mine at work is not.

i didn't even think of that... but he didn't mention it they're only like 17x7.5 i think, so there shouldn't be a problem, but i'll make sure
