![]() ![]() I agree, go to los angeles. Im from NY and I can tell you, from a tourist point of view LA is where its at. Other than shopping and dirty beaches New York aint all that special. Especially coming from Aus. I mean itll be nice, cause its different but thats just because you didnt go to Cali. yet. |

| reasons why not to go to california -earthquakes -wildfires -mudslides -polution if your not a 'bro' and dont wakeboard come to new york. california is only one step above new jersey. there is a reason they call it the land of fruits and nuts, pun intended ![]() |

Now..... the traffic is abso-fucking-lutely unbearable, lots of people think were assholes, its unbelievably crowded and expensive. That is true. And THAT is coming from a person that was born and raised in Hollywood, Ca. ![]() ![]() But the only other place I would live is Europe. The Southern California lifestyle is something that is unique in the world and Im proud as hell of it. At Christmas its still 70 degrees. Now what? haha. If we want, in a few hours we can go snowboarding in the snow, or go to the beach. This is playful banter, though. No need to get pissed. I love L.A.Mariano

| Thats bascially what Im saying.... Cali has so much more to do. You cant go snowboarding and hit the beach in the same day in New York. You cant go see movie stars houses, New york has no playboy mantion. Disney world, indoor skydiving, awesome cars, TEKADEMICS, Arnold Schwasrnigger (i dont know how to spell it), clubs on the strip, the best marijuana, hookers, desert racing, shows, hollywood... I mean the list can go on for days. I jut think Cali has so much to do if your a tourist. IMO |

| While I love Cali, I found the ppl there to be a bit superficial. For real down to earth ppl NY is where its at. If your out shopping, in NY, make sure you visit Century 21. Downtown Manhattan near where the Twin Towers were. Oh, lest I forget please visit this spot Manhattan Luxury Hotel | Hudson River | Gansevoort | New York City Hotels. Loads of minx's in there and mingers if that's your sort. Best part is you can party at the hotel or in the area and stay there just for the night...Ask me how I know. ![]()

| NY was amazing. I visited all the tourist traps, but alot of NY Baffled me. Went to Statten Island and it was shit. There was nothing to do. So we got back on the ferry after an hour of wandering around and went back to Manhattan. I thought Statten Island was going to real chic, with lots of cafes, bars, restaraunts but no go. They don't do Alfreco dinning much in NY but I suppose that's because its so cold theer alot. The cabs are all V8's on regular petrol! And yet they are so cheap??? Half the people we met were friendly the other half were not! Don't get me started on the tipping and tax dramas! Everytime we went out for dinner we had to calculate tax and tips. Drinks in NY not that cheap, but food and transport is cheap as. The Brochure told us Harlem had become gentrified and all trendy; jazz/blues clubs ect. We got off the Subway at 125th street and it felt like we had just walked into a third world country. Harlem was so run down and dirty. They're all about saving the environment over in NY, but lets look at the living conditions of the poorer parts of USA first! I loved the busy lifestyle, Central Park was cool, food was plentiful and we saw a Mets game at Shea! But the biggest highlight was the shopping!! I'm a bloke and I never buy clothes for myself, but the clothes were so cheap! I went to Century 21 it was amazing, albeit busy! If I was earning big money and work in PR or finance etc I could live there, in Manhattan, but for me it was great to come back home as well. You guys in the States are very lucky to have NY in your own backyard! It's a wonderful place! HM

| Its good that you had a great time in our fair City. Still not sure why you went to Shaolin (Staten Island) though it is indeed shit. Glad you got a chance to go to Century 21, it is a bit of a tourist trap, and that you and yours were well satisfied at shopping there. Harlem, has indeed before gentrified at least from when I lived there some parts are a bit ratty, but its a work in progress. Former President Clinton gave $600 million to the community for rehab, etc and his offices are on 125th St.
